Introduction
The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a unique group of stages involved in the creation or development of a system. The process involved in the SDLC is comprised of four phases with a series of steps involved in each phase. The phases involved in the SDLC process include: Planning phase, which represents the vital stage of the process as it defines the problems and scope of the system, seeks viable solutions by carrying out feasibility tests, the schedule of the project is developed here and also assimilates project resources that are required. The analysis phase follows and is tasked with requirement prioritizing, alternative generation and evaluation, organizational policy review and providing recommendations to the management.

Informatics nurses are tasked with various roles within the health care facilities which involve: a) management, administration and leadership within the departments of clinical informatics and also serve as managers of projects, b) consultation either from an external or internal perspective serving as a resource to health care, c) policy advocacy and development where the nurse informatics act as advocates for the health care institution, consumers and the hospital units by assisting in the shaping of standards and policies at organizational, state and national level, d) analysis experts by applying use of data in the synthesis of knowledge, thus support making of informed decisions and also aid in management of outcomes, e) evaluating and researching on different topics of informatics that affect both consumers and caregivers, f) management of integrity and compliance through assisting health care institutions comply with the standards and national laws like FDA and HIPAA, g) development of professional and education expertise in regards to application or device use and also passing on that knowledge to the general public and the future nurses, h) aid in …show more content…
