Why I Attend College
Pursuing a college degree is important to me. Furthering my education has become a hobby of mine as I enjoy participating in activities that will keep my brain sharp as I grow older. In addition, it is important for me to plane for my future in the event that I may need to support my family financially. Several important people in my life are an inspiration to me by their example in furthering their own education as older adults. Attending college is a very important part of my life. The number one reason that I attend college is I desire to keep my brain sharp as I get older. I feel I will obtain this goal by participating in hobbies that require daily brain action. One of my favorite hobbies is obtaining higher education.. The Alzheimer’s Association states “ higher levels of education appear to be somewhat protective against Alzheimer’s …”. They also suggest that one method of keeping your brain active every day is to enroll in college courses. This “active brain” is what I am trying to maintain by attending college. …show more content…
Currently, my husband works to support our family. However, my husband has some developing physical limitations that may prohibit him from working eventually. I want to be sure that I have enough education to be able to obtain a descent paying job if the need arises. College-education.procon.org suggests that college graduates make more money, more jobs require a college degree, and that there are more opportunities for those who have a degree.
