The website that I chose to visit was ShopJustice.com, the online store for Justice: Just For Girls. Justice is a tween girls’ clothing store, whose target market is girls ranging from ages 6 to 14 years old. The products I selected to analyze are their Summer 2018 line of bikinis. I chose this because when I was younger, Justice was one of my favorite stores. Many of my elementary school memories were spent in that store, begging my parents for yet another sparkly pink shirt. However, the fact that this clothing store that is extremely well known and has such a large following is producing these bikinis and marketing them to their demographic of extremely young girls will make them feel like this is what they need to have to fit in. If Justice is selling it, it must be something they need! The message being sent is that they need to show off their bodies the same way that adults do. It is sexualizing them without their knowing, and engraining the idea that your body is part of what defines you and one way to get attention or to fit in is to exploit that part of yourself, which is an extremely toxic way of thinking, especially for young
