Chapter 1
My hands were numb with my feet dipping into the freezing water. It watched under me. It waited for me to slip, waited for me to give up and slide into its grasp. My arms ached and I tried to hold on. The snow stung on my face. My hands were freezing and my lips were blue and cracked along with the weak voice I tried to use to shout for help. I shivered and almost lost grip to the sapling I held to. I couldn’t lose grip, it would lead to demise. I had to wait. I had to wait, in the cold, in the freezing, in the frozen world around me, there was no sound. My boots shifted from side to side and tried to pull myself up. I was too weak, and there was no one, no one to hear me, hear me cry for help, nobody. …show more content…
I walked across the snowy roads with the freezing cold boots. Bugzie stalked the owner's yard as me and my friends sledded down the hill. This was steep with a drop, a parallel hill, with a lake at the bottom. We also built a ramp out of the access snow that we had. “This is amazing, huh?” Logan remarked. He and Messay were my main friends at the time. “I know, we haven’t had this much snow in soooo long!” I rambled. Messay exclaimed how he had almost got a concussion while sledding once and how “I flew through the air and hit the ground and did a whole front flip before landing on my head!”. I skidded towards the lake and dug my boots into the snow pushing against my feet. I continuously climbed to the top of the hill over and over again. Messay skidded down the hill on the bowl sled. I had two sleds. One was dad's when he was a child which was a classic sled and then I had a metal bowl sled along with a very slippery boogie board. I mainly used the boogie board. We brought the kayak down to the hill and started to go down over and over as a group. We sat in the cold at the top of the hill. We all dug our gloves into the snow and slid down the hill. It went further this time and we were headed straight to the lake. The Kayak bumped to the side and knocked Messay out. “BAIL!!” yelled Beau, another friend. We all shrieked and jumped out of the boat that was heading towards doom. The Kayak careened to the side as we jumped, knocking me back in. I stared at the lake in front of me as friends hit the soft snow. The Kayak neared the lake and teetered on the edge. It started to fall as I scrambled to the back of the Kayak as it turned from a 45 degree angle to a 90 degree angle. I grabbed the branched in front of me and pushed back the
