The book “Call of the Wild”, in my opinion, was an outstanding book so far. This book is about a dog named Buck who gets kidnapped from the Sun kissed Santa Clara Valley way back in fall of 1897, consequently taken to the Klondike Gold Rush. Here Buck has been sold around to be a sled dog. Buck is sold to two men named Perrault and Francois. These two men are heading towards Dawson ( a city rich in yellow metal) with a sled team of dogs. Buck was a sled dog. As you know it takes more than one dog to pull a sled. So, in that case they had to have other dogs. These dogs were his first pull team Spitz, Dave, Sol-leks, Billie, Joe, Dub, and Pike. Spitz was the alpha of the group, Billie was kindhearted, and Joe, I guess we can say Joe isn’t…

shenanigans. As the smell of crisp apple pie and left-over turkey diminished, the smell of cold, breathtaking air took its place. My sister and I traveled into the cold winter air by ourselves. Taking my first step into the freshly fallen snow I could feel the cold, cloud like softness below the soles of my boots. As my sister and I began to run the snow squeaked slightly under us. We ran to the large hill that sat directly in between our house and our barn. The only light in our darkness was…

In the winter of 1924 and 1925, there lived a sled dog by the name of Balto. This dog was made famous by the 1995 animated Disney film, entitled Balto. However, most people do not know the true depth of Balto’s story, which rightfully includes a number of other teams that also helped in this grand adventure. In December of 1924, the first case of diphtheria appeared in a two year old Inuit boy, but it was misdiagnosed as tonsillitis because of the lack of family history, or anyone in the area…

was steep with a drop, a parallel hill, with a lake at the bottom. We also built a ramp out of the access snow that we had. “This is amazing, huh?” Logan remarked. He and Messay were my main friends at the time. “I know, we haven’t had this much snow in soooo long!” I rambled. Messay exclaimed how he had almost got a concussion while sledding once and how “I flew through the air and hit the ground and did a whole front flip before landing on my head!”. We sledded down the hill at top speeds and…

The Call of the Wild revolves around the story of Buck, a St. Bernard, Scotch shepherd mix, who fights to survive in the unforgiving life of a sled dog. Kidnapped and beaten into submission, Buck learns quickly that these men are his masters and not his owners. The punishments are brutal but they don’t just some from those that own him now but even his sled dog teammates who teach him, in a less than sympathetic manner, how to work as a sled dog. Buck is quick to learn all the ways of a sled…

(nome alaska) The airplanes were shut down for the winter and the fastest and easiest way to get to Anchorage (the place with the medicine) was by dog sledding their. So…
