I was born in raised in Texas my entire life. When I decided to attend college I wanted to do something out of my comfort zone and experience something new. A first step toward that was choosing a school where I did not know one person, in a state I have never been to, and that was ten hours away, which was Mississippi State University. I went to Mississippi State University the first two years of college. After my sophomore year I started looking more into what I enjoy and want to pursue in a career, knowing that decisions needed to be made education wise. I decided to transfer and finish my undergraduate at Louisiana State University. Two obstacles I encountered in my college career were moving to new areas and not knowing a person. I believe this allowed to grow as a person, find myself, and showed the length I am willing to take for my education. During my college career I experienced failures at different levels. The failures I am referring to are the test grades that I received that did not meet my expectations. Since I take my school very seriously and put a immense amount of time into my work this would shake me a little. Through these failures I had to make changes and that started with creating communication between the teacher and I. I would go meet with teachers weekly, ask questions, and participate in study sessions offered. By doing these things it helped create more positive results in my test grades. I finally understood that teachers are there to help me become successful and communication is a key component. My junior year after transferring to LSU I encountered several hardships in a short period of time. My grandmother passed away at the beginning of summer 2015 from lung cancer, my best friend passed away August 2015 after a seven-year battle with cancer, following with my grandfather passing away in October 2015. This is one of the biggest hardships I have ever had to deal with during school. The individuals that passed away always wanted the best

I have always been independent, but I fully seeked independence when I was 16 years old. This was the year of 2016, and this was the year that my life changed; I was forced to grow up and learn how to be more independent. The first step to my seeking of independence was turning 16 years old and getting my driver’s license. This meant I was finally able to go out on my own and not rely on others to take me places anymore. In the year of 2016, I also began taking classes at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute to earn college credits.…

Even though telling students my failure story was challenging for me, in the end, I inspired them to excel academically. My story encouraged them to begin their college experience with high grades and not follow my example of having a 2.8 or any G.P.A that is considered low in their respective majors. In my everyday life, I tell my stories to friends who are struggling with their education and offer them the support they need to improve. I believe that telling my story of resilience has had a positive impact on people’s lives as it inspires them not to give up since…

During my junior year I experienced failure. I had taken 3 AP classes and I was in cheer at my high school, and trying to figure out a balance between the two was difficult for me because it seemed like cheer took up a lot of my time and in the past other two years it had, but I had managed to still do well in my honors and AP classes. My junior year was another story, I struggled a lot at the beginning of the school year, and most of first semester was spent with me having an F sometimes more than one, and that was a failure to me because I had my heart set on going to a four college or university and I knew that if i had an F i wouldnt qualify.…

Being the first in the family to take interest in college is already enough for everyone to push me in the direction to achieving it. I do not want to disappoint them or myself, I want to be on the graduation stage with my hand grasping that master degree. About me, others describe me as opinioned, stubborn and independent. Although I do not want to admit it, these traits all apply to me. Opinioned doesn’t sound as an appealing word to me I should say I like for people to understand my views completely also I don’t mind if someone does not agree with me, it just adds more depth to the discussion.…

I always thought I would go out of state far away for college, but my family is too important for me to stray so far. I knew mizzou was the one after only one visit. I collected packets and devoured information to make sure I met up to all the qualifications. I applied to only one college and when my yellow tiger package finally arrived, I couldn't help overflowing with excitement.…

On a sweltering summer day in the City of Atlanta or the “ATL” as it is affectionately known today, I visited my best friend while he visited his father for the summer. That day I remember vividly because as soon as we stepped outside of the airport to take the “MARTA” train, I began to sweat profusely. Anyone that has been to Atlanta during the summer knows it is incredibly humid there. A week earlier I had seen my friend, and we planned out what we were going to do that week I visited. I knew I wanted to visit Spellman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College, but before I could visit the Atlanta University Center or the “AUC” as it is called to the locals, I felt compelled to visit the grave site of one of the most influential human being to walk this earth.…

Because of this misfortune, I feel as if I most likely will not get into any Ivy League colleges because of my low SAT score. A time I experienced failure was in my freshman year of High School. At the time, I had prioritized my friends and having fun over focusing on my studies. I didn't see any importance in applying myself at school. This resulted in an extreme drop in my grades and performance inside the classroom. The school I was attending offered college courses, and I failed two simply because I felt that I didn't need to put any effort into the classes and that my friends were more important.…
