Decent Essays
I always thought I would go out of state far away for college, but my family is too important for me to stray so far. Last year with my school, I took many tours of different colleges in Missouri but University of Missouri was the one that stood out most to me because of the beautiful campus, the involved students, the hundreds of clubs, and all the traditions. I knew mizzou was the one after only one visit. I collected packets and devoured information to make sure I met up to all the qualifications. I applied to only one college and when my yellow tiger package finally arrived, I couldn't help overflowing with excitement. I just can not wait to be a tiger and be apart of something so big and amazing. Joining the Mizzou family has been such

I have played baseball ever since I was a young kid, but somehow, at seventeen I still had numerous struggles with it. You would think after my grandpa being drafted to the Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League baseball team, and my dad getting a full ride to the University of Denver their skill would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. I wasn't terrible, I could hit a 90 mile per hour fastball and I could, for the most part, field a ground ball. However, I was definitely not about to be scouted by the college scouts.…

I have always been independent, but I fully seeked independence when I was 16 years old. This was the year of 2016, and this was the year that my life changed; I was forced to grow up and learn how to be more independent. The first step to my seeking of independence was turning 16 years old and getting my driver’s license. This meant I was finally able to go out on my own and not rely on others to take me places anymore. In the year of 2016, I also began taking classes at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute to earn college credits.…

Although I have been an MU Tiger fan for years, my passion for Mizzou truly began when I attended the High School Mini Medical School for a week last summer. Living in the dorms, receiving hands-on training in several medical situations, as well as just getting a glimpse of what student life is like at MU was amazing. The beautiful campus, welcoming atmosphere, and everything that I learned regarding Mizzou while staying there only served to increase my desire to attend. The university offers me everything I am looking for in a college and more: an impressive nursing program, a large and diverse population of students, a phenomenal recreation center, and NCAA athletics to be involved in and excited about! Being from Kansas City, I also love…

Coming to a city that you are unfamiliar with comes with the opportunity to meet new people. When I first came to Chicago in the second grade there was a different culture than in Joliet. With me living on the Southside of Chicago in the Chatham neighborhood, I knew how limited my resources to education were, even at a young age. It wasn’t until the seventh grade that I started helping the student in my school with their education. There were always students in my class that were slower learners and needed somebody other than a teacher to help them get the concept of a lesson.…

Basketball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up around the sport with my Grandpa being a referee and playing little league ball through elementary school. In High-School being six foot six inches it was a given I would play basketball. I spent three years on the varsity basketball team with having the privilege of being a Captain my senior year. Hamilton took me by surprise. I knew it was a small liberal arts college, but I had no grasp on how unique and genuine the community was. So many people said hi to my tour guide, Emily, as she showed me around -- including the line cook in the dining hall! I also heard how a student emailed 10 alumni to help her with something, and all of them replied to her. This kind of close-knit, loving family is what I want in a college experience.…

On a sweltering summer day in the City of Atlanta or the “ATL” as it is affectionately known today, I visited my best friend while he visited his father for the summer. That day I remember vividly because as soon as we stepped outside of the airport to take the “MARTA” train, I began to sweat profusely. Anyone that has been to Atlanta during the summer knows it is incredibly humid there. A week earlier I had seen my friend, and we planned out what we were going to do that week I visited. I knew I wanted to visit Spellman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College, but before I could visit the Atlanta University Center or the “AUC” as it is called to the locals, I felt compelled to visit the grave site of one of the most influential human being to walk this earth.…
