My mother just listens to me and allow me to go on venting until I was crying and asking God what did we do. What made things worse was seeing my mother shedding tears, and I have never seen her shed tears before this day. My mom embraced me and told me that everything was going to be okay. She informed me that we did not do anything wrong and that he choose to leave us. As the years went by the more anger, I had for my father. I came to the conclusion that my dad was never coming back and he did not make me out to be a liar. When I was ten years old, I started hanging around some positive men who wanted the best for me. One summer day at the park my friends and I were taking a break from playing basketball. It was a hot, humid, and sticky day with a slight breeze to cool us down every so often. A man drove up to the park and said that he was starting a boy scout troop in our area and asked if we knew any kids who would like to join the boy scouts. My best friends and I wanted to join, and for me, I thought this would be my avenue to change. I had a talk with my mother, and she allowed me to sign up. The boy scout troop was a part of a local church called Soul Saving Station. The Scout Master and the men of the church were great role models especially for me.
