The only time my mother uses it is when she has a text or call. I only use it for the same reason, but my sister is starting to get distracted by it constantly. I think that the reason why, though, is because she never had one, and had always seen her friends and everyone else have one, so I am hoping that the shiny new toy effect will wear off with time. But after reading that article i'm not so sure that will happen. Also, I have realized that the more people text, the less people are willing to actually speak. Including my sister and I. When my mother asks one of us to call a business, or make an appointment, or orderout, I am hesitant, and my sister flat out refuses. Which are really bad traits to obtain, because when I first started to make appointments for myself it felt awkward and I was unsure how to act or respond, but the more calls that I place the more professional I sound. I do keep it in my pocket, only because if it goes into my bag there is a high chance that it will break. Two of my teachers have either a box or a hanging pocket rack, for the students to put their phones so that there is no distraction. Dr. Laws has a box next to the calculators, so that when you go to get your calculator, you put your phone in the box, and when class is over and you are putting your calculator up, you grab your phone on the way out of class. Mrs. Hartsell has a phone-pocket rack next to the door; come in, and put your phone in the pocket; walking out, and grab your phone on the way. No distractions. Then Mr. Ray has a basket, but he gives us a option, except for test days. But if you are caught messing with your phone in class or if it goes off, then he will take it. The decision about the phone will be between you and Mr. Ray, so that is a gambling game. While i'm in school though, I have no reason to use my phone unless it is to get into contact with my mother or sister, and that is only if it is an emergency, or lately, for an example; to check up on one of my cats who have recently had
