Patient Communication Analysis

Today, everything went great! I am so excited about the things I've gotten to do today! First thing this morning, I got to do a blood draw, then I went in to the insurance and billing office to begin making calls to insurance companies to check patients benefits for global maternity. Afterwards, I followed an interpreter, nurse practitioner, and an LPN to exam rooms to listen in on communication skills and cultural needs between each patient and employees. The communication from nurse practitioner, to LPN, to patient was very smooth, helpful, and served the patient's needs to the fullest. With an interpreter present, communicating with patients has very few issues because the patient is fully aware of what's going to happen with their treatment.

The interprofessional education approach also known as IPE is considered to be a collaborative approach between team members. The team members had to show respect to each other’s practice and work together to achieve the best possible care for the patient. This IPE event offered a way for the health care team members to share their skills and knowledge with each other, the patient and the family members.…

Although you commented that you "focused on how it can improve things for the nurse". In reality, the integration of the data that nurses obtain from technology is linked to improved patient outcomes by "improving communication, reducing errors and adverse events" (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2015, p. 273). The system we use has several components that provide practitioners with medical alerts and care reminders while we are accessing the patient's electronic health record which is an added bonus. However, electronic reminders and alerts are not always "One size fits all", and providers must continue to use their critical thinking skills when caring for each individual patient.…

My interactions were interpersonal I talked to each patient about their life and what led them to the psychological facility. For an example one was unwilling to communicate upon first meeting me so I stayed close by with relaxed posture and spoke with other client then returned to the original client, based on my body language and how I interacted with the other clients, he then felt comfortable talking with me.…
