Educating and teach back has been an effective tool when it comes to discharging patients; however, what could prevent it from being effective upon admitting a patient to the unit? According to Tamura-Lis (2013), everyone in the healthcare field profits from passing on good, concise information. So, if the patients were actually taught how to properly operate the call light and how to make requests, the time between the patient calling and the nurse or patient care assistant responding should decrease.
