Overcoming Adversity In Issac Shelton's Adaptation Of

Adversity comes in many forms. For some, it may be physical. For others, it may be mental. One sees adversity around themselves and within themselves every day. It has been shown through historical, literary texts, within our peers and even within our own family. No matter if it is physical, mental or both, the personal qualities of being ambitious, progressive, and optimistic are needed to overcome adversity.
Ambition is one of the strongest qualities to hold when overcoming adversity. Specifically, it is an essential quality needed by almost everyone who goes through a variety of adversity. It is seen within Issac Shelton’s version of overcoming adversity. He was to an extent where he hit rock bottom with alcohol abuse. He explained “I used to drink four pints of whisky every night and come to school drunk and hungover without a care.” Alcoholism engulfed him to the point where he nearly took his own life as well as others. Marisa Solis, was one of many who had to go through this. After living in California for over 19 years, she then again had to go through the process of moving to an alienated place. Only this time, she had her husband and two children to bring with her. She moved to Iowa about 3 years ago, leaving behind her mother, father and siblings. Throughout all this distressful moving she still managed to keep her appreciable quality of optimism as her leading guide.
