How is online time affecting teens? Ever since social media became big, teens have spent hours everyday on it. The internet has become another world in which people go to when they want to go away from their problems. Online gaming has also become more popular. New and more technologically advanced game systems have attracted the attention of teens. Now that the internet has become a different reality, which people can go to and leave their reality at anytime, people are starting to wonder whether time spent online has become a problem. Violent video games have also become more common for teens. Most people who play these games spend hours a day, because it is like a new drug that make time fly, and they cannot stop using it. Everyone has heard that phrase, "Practice makes perfect." That is the phrase that leads to people realizing why computer skills are improving. People have come to a conclusion that, because teens spend hours typing on the internet, they have become expert typers, and that can help them find a job that requires typing in the future. Another problem users of the internet have to deals with is software issues. A lot of these times the only solution is to stick their own hands in there, because they do not have the money to go to a professional repair shop. They also become experts at finding information, because the internet is such a big place. All of these problems that teens have to deal with, when they are using technology can have a positive outcome in the future. Just like exercising is something tiring that not everyone can do as well, when people do it they benefit from it. Same goes for young people experimenting with technology. They are learning to accomplish what they would never do if they did not use the internet. An office job requires computer skills, if a teens developed these at a young age, then they have that advantage over the other competitors. This is a major part of the controversy. Parents blame this for the violent behaviors of their adolescents. This case is another one that seems to obvious. Parents can easily say, "Yes, my child is playing violent video games, so that means he will be violent, because of the games he plays. He is also going crazy, because of the games." It sounds simple, but actually it is not that simple. In fact, studies have shown that the reaction time of gamers is faster than those who do not play video games. The reason for this is, because most games today are games that move at a fast pace, and in order to keep up with the game, gamers need to be completely concentrated on the game. They are constantly moving their character from place to place, which is what makes them react quickly. Unlike listening to classical music which is definitely relaxing, playing fast paced video games keeps the player engaged and makes them do a variety of movement in the game, which improves their ability to multitask. These abilities improved my playing video games, can help anyone in the real world. While the argument has been made that teens who play video games do not do much physical activity, the results say the opposite.
