The news that North Korea was successfully completed their fifth higher level nuclear test has struck concerns in South Korea and the United States. To make matters worse on August 22, 2016 the U.S. was able to confirm that North Korea has the ability to launch Nukes at U.S. Additionally, during the annual military joint drill between South Korea and U.S. North Korea threatened to “Turn the stronghold of provocation into a heap of ashes through Korean-style preemptive strike if the US and south Korea show the slightest sign of aggression.” (Browne R., & Starr B. 2016) So as it seems now North Korea is sitting with their finger on the trigger ready to launch nukes at either the United States or South Korea if either of them try any sort of military aggression. With this in mind what ways can the United States possible diffuse this time bomb that is North Korea? Well with the sensitivity of this situation United States should take multiple courses of action to try and resolve this conflict; these should include indirect diplomacy with North Korea, preparations for target bombing, and finally infiltration plans.
In 2012 diplomacy between North Korea and United States seemed okay as the new leader Kim Jung-Un opened North Korea for inspection of nuclear weapons, which resulted in supplies being sent to them from the US. These relations were short lived as North Korea attempted to launch a satellite into space. This did not go over well in America and sanctions were made to stop
