Hae Min Lee Persuasive Essay

Every year there are hundreds if not thousands of people who are put in jail even though they are innocent. On January 13, 1999, Hae Min Lee of Woodlawn high school was found dead in Linkin Park. Her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was the one who took the blame. I think Adnan Syed deserves an appeal because in his trails there were inconsistent testimonies, cell phone call logs that had blurry information and the fact that Adnan did not have a violent or aggressive temperament. According to Episode 4 of Serial, the testimonies that were given by Jay Wilds show he is lying about what really happened. At the beginning, he stated he had nothing to do with helping Adnan bury Hae’s body. Later on, he said he knew where Hae’s car was and took the police to the car. In each of Jay’s interviews, he tells the police a different time frame in which Adnan told Jay he was going to kill Hae. The reason behind all these lies is “Jay told the police and the jury, again and again, that he was willing to lie in order to avoid criminal punishment (Susan).” Even though Jay is not a credible …show more content…
The cell phone call log was one of the big pieces used against Adnan, but according to the Serial Podcast Jay had Adnan’s phone that day.in the call logs there were incoming calls that were used to find Adnan's phone even though "Outgoing calls only are reliable for location status. Any incoming calls will not be considered reliable information for the location. Now, this may be a case where the cell tower was right but it's uncertain, this proves that the accuracy of the cell phone tower evidence is only correct about 27% of the

My advice to makayla is to never get stuck on one question no longer than five minutes. It's okay to skip a question and come back to it later once you have answer all of the other questions. It's also okay to guess intelligently on some of the questions. I feel that you shouldn't always linger on the same questions, because that can cause you to loose most of you time on the test. His heroic testimony against his good friend is the main reason the state was able to correctly convict Adnan. In his sworn statement, Jay affirms Adnan killed Hae and that he saw her dead body. He tells investigators, “all [he could] see [was that] Hae’s lips [were] all blue, and she [was] pretzeled up in the back of the trunk. And she [was] dead.” This descriptive account of Jay’s first interaction with the deceased corps is very clear evidence that he was a witness to this disgusting act.…

30% of women are murdered by someone that they were in a relationship with in the past. The Hae Min Lee obsessed Adnan Syed is responsible for her murder which is supported by the call logs not matching his tall tale story. Adnan had many motives to lash out at Hae resulting in her tragic murder. It is obvious with solid evidence and phony stories from Syed himself that he diabolically formed a plan to end Hae Min Lee’s life and cover it up. Adnan Syed claimed to have his phone on him when he allegedly was not at Leakin Park.…

The writing expected from college courses is one that most are unfamiliar with. Although students learn basic English skills throughout grade school and up to high school, most of the advanced steps are forgotten by the time the student is to enter college. The second reason I think Adnan must be innocent is because there are too many inconsistencies that Jay provides during his testimony while being interviewed by the police. Jay provides many stories, which sometimes do not match up to Adnan’s story or to the stories he provides. There were many inconsistencies that did not make sense, of which I will share the 3 that I found most important, which you can find in episode 4 called “Inconsistencies". The…

Even with all of this in mind, the court sees him as the main suspect and is not dissuaded by his normal persona. They pin him as Hae Min Lee’s killer by using the jealous boyfriend stereotype. It is also bad for his case when there are phone records and accounts of him acting strange on the day of her murder. Jay seems to be the only one that has a story that is sound enough to have Adnan as the main suspect.…

Did you know there are over two million untrained men and women who are liable for military training. Many countries do not have mandatory military training but in some countries, it is mandatory for students to take one year of military training. This means how to use weapons, how to act as a unit, and what to do if your country is ever at war. I believe that all students in grade 12 should have to take one year of mandatory military training. Three reasons that students should have mandatory military training is knowing how to act in an emergency, students will have something to do after high school, and gun control and safety.…
