When someone says “hero”, I don’t think of the stereotypical superman hero that is commonly recognized and associated with the word. I think of a normal, average person who goes out of their way to help or save someone in need. I take my parents as an example. They are ordinary people who help me and care for me, even though they don’t have any “superpowers”. They are kind, brave, and honest; three qualities that someone heroic or respected must have to be the way they are.…

As Jim Watkins once stated, “A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but its persistence.” Just like water, a hero should be persistent because they keep on their task and don’t give up until they reach their end goal. Heroes are people who strive for accomplishments, people who are persistent, and heroes are also people who satisfy some, but not all. Heroes are people that have a need for their accomplishment. The first example is Abraham Lincoln, which Phineas Gurley explains in Lincoln’s death sermon.…

These are the type of people that give others hope and save lives each and every day. You do not have to have super powers to save someone, you do not have to be in a position or a career where the main goal is to save someone’s life such as a doctor, a policeman or a firefighter. Heroes can be everyday people, such as a teacher; who teaches kids the everyday essentials of life to grow and be a better person, a parent; who guides and raise their children and protect their children, and even a janitor or trash man; people that help keep the environment clean for our safety and…
