Personal Narrative: My Journey To Stanly Early College

Standing in the middle of the hall, looking at every new face makes me feel so lost. No one was there for me to turn to or talk to. This was not what I expected when coming to Stanly Early College. At that time, I was only fourteen years old with no friends at Stanly Early College, which made me feel very out of place. It made me regret choosing Stanly Early College because at first I thought I would get to know different people, but I only ended up being alone. My loneliness made me feel as if things would not get better, but I did not lose hope. As time went by, I started to get used to the environment because I knew that it would get better and it actually did. Stanly Early College was the start of my journey because it gave me lessons that I never learned before. It taught me that it is okay to be alone, it made me realize that I cannot be a quitter, and that I will feel happier if I can make myself more positive.
The bus ride in the morning to North Stanly Middle School is my time to finish any homework that I did not do the night before and to hear about all the news that is happening at the middle school. As the bus stops at my middle school, I race to the gym to find my friends because I have the latest gossip news for them to hear. Today, is the due date for a big final project in 6th grade. This is one of the times in which I felt so proud of my project because it wowed all of my teachers and I got an A on it. On this project I had to make something that makes me proud of North Stanly Middle School and I was proud of our mascot because it was a Comet. After the teacher took a look at the project and praised me for the work, I felt like I could achieve all of my goals in the future, but as time went by, life became harder than it seemed. In my 7th and 8th grade year, I finally became a straight A student, which made my parents proud, but my relationship with my friends became rough because there was dramas everywhere. All three of my best friends and I competed against each other with our grades, we fought over whose friends is whose and got mad over the littlest things that our enemies would do. Eventually, as time went on, we all forgave each other in 8th grade, and then the application of entering Stanly Early College was mentioned. My friends and I discussed that we should all join so we can graduate together, which led us to all apply at Stanly Early College. We were interviewed together, but unfortunately, one of my friends did not get in. That made me try to appreciate my friends more often because we did not know when our paths would separate. It also made me think that life is not fair because we all got separated and had to go on our way. After departing from my friends in 8th grade to attend Stanly Early College, many things did not go well for me. Starting freshman year my friend, Monica, and I got separated into different classes. We did not get to see each other often because our schedules were so tight that we only got to meet during lunch time. Being separated from Monica made me very upset since I thought that we would be together since our start of High School. Starting the first

Attending college classes became a new challenge for me because college level had different standards from high school. There were different expectations, such as submitting a paper through online by 11:59, or college professors do not accept late work or make an exception for students who did not have a valid excuse. Checking and submitting assignments through an online system called Moodle was a very new concept for me because I was not taught how to use the system during freshmen year. Fortunately, I was put into a class that taught me how to use Moodle and gave me time to do my homework. Even though it was tough in the beginning, with time and the help of others I was able to find solutions to all of my

By the time the real climb had started my legs were already cramping.…

She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

I started attending Lone star college right after high school, at first, I began with the typical high school graduate state of mind, which was that college was going to be a breeze and that it would all be fun and games; more worried about what was going on in my social life rather than studying the books. Especially since I had no real responsibilities to handle or much life experience. Around my first year of college, I started dating this girl and not long after we conceived our first son. Once this happened, my focus slowly shifted from school to working a full-time job at a welding shop in order to provide for my family.
