Personal Narrative: Lone Star College

I started attending Lone star college right after high school, at first, I began with the typical high school graduate state of mind, which was that college was going to be a breeze and that it would all be fun and games; more worried about what was going on in my social life rather than studying the books. Especially since I had no real responsibilities to handle or much life experience. Around my first year of college, I started dating this girl and not long after we conceived our first son. Once this happened, my focus slowly shifted from school to working a full-time job at a welding shop in order to provide for my family. Luckily I made it to the hospital only to find out I had a brain tumor the size of a mandarin pressing up against an artery that was causing the blockage. Next morning, I had brain surgery and by the grace of God the tumor was removed and after much treatment, I’m still present. While recovering, at the hospital I vouched to strive for my dreams and live my life to the fullest no matter what happened. So once again I started school; however, this time I was paying for my classes out of pocket since I didn’t qualify for financial aid. With much effort, I was able to get good grades proving to myself that I needed to have that “hunger” in order to make good things happen. I realized that you need to have self-discipline in order to prioritize the tasks at hand & also that if I dedicate more time to learning I would get better results. I engraved my brain with the idea I’m not here to have a great social life but instead, I’m here to benefit myself and maybe help someone along the way if
