This is especially represented through my involvement in debate. Throughout my middle school years, I was coached in a private debate institution where I was supported through superb coaching and teammates. As a result, I went on to winning many competitions. However, due to my family’s financial situation, I had to leave this enriched environment. I was devastated and alone because debate had always been my creative and intellectual output. The situation was further complicated by my high school administration’s refusal to grant my request for a debate club because similar clubs already existed. My story should end there, but it doesn’t—not by a long shot.
I decided that if I couldn’t open the door, I would drill a hole to get through. After planning the operations and finance of a Speech and Debate Team, I successfully pitched the idea to the communications club and began leading the new team. Training my teammates using techniques and knowledge I had learned, my teammates and I have since won numerous awards, from regional championships and top speakers to best school
