How My Community College has Changed My Life Growing up everyone emphasized how important it was and still is to further education after high school. I always kept this in the back of my mind, but never knew how I would be able to afford college. Researching different schools I realized tuition would cost more than I had saved up. I’ve been saving for higher education for quite some time actually. I started working in the seventh grade detaseling corn. The pay wasn’t particularly outstanding, but I started saving. Over the years I’ve held several positions other than detasiling corn, but that’s about all a seventh grader can do for a paycheck.
