It is very important to be involved with others in community college, it’s called community college so make sure to interact with others in that community. Joanne Jacobs reports in an article interviewing Isa Adney “The secret to success is people, Adney writes. Talk to classmates. Form study groups. Join clubs—and then take a leadership role. Develop a network of friends.” The point that Adney is making here is that everything is easier if you have the support of others. It’s important to keep in touch with others and improve with their help. I also see some of the characteristics Kathy Caprino talked about in myself. Besides following your path and giving yourself time, there are other characteristics a successful person has. It’s important to be motivated, to accept your responsibilities, be aware of yourself, and always wanting to learn from experience (Oklahoma City Community College). At the moment I am not sure what my long term goal is going to be, what I am going to major in. This does make it a bit difficult to follow my long term path but I am still focusing on getting my AA and then moving on from there. I am greatly motivated to succeed in college. Even though I do not know what I want to major in I know I need this college experience and I am not taking it lightly. The article by Kathy Caprino also mentioned that a successful person does not look for an easy way out of things. I almost always searched for an easy way out during my time at high school. I always hope that the test was delayed or the packet we were going to receive was easy. I have gotten rid of this attitude and I have actually started to look forward to difficult tasks. When I took a psychology class I was nervous days before the final. When it was finals day I studied a few hours before the test and I was motivated. I wanted to take that test.
