St. Bernard Reflection

My time at St. Bernard has taught me many skills that I will use both in college and throughout the rest of my life. I would like to believe that I am a very different person from the frightened fourteen year old I came to St. Bernard as four years ago- smarter, more adaptable, more accepting, more critical of myself and others. It is hard to say how much of the change can be directly credited to St. Bernard, but the growing up and learning I have done has mostly taken place here, both inside and outside of the classroom. You can grow older and more mature anywhere, but there is something about St. Bernard that makes it special, something unique in the classes, the campus, and the atmosphere. Four years is a long time, but now, at the end of them, …show more content…
Bernard is time management. There have been times when my schedule has become hectic, but I have learned that if I plan my time and keep track of all the work I need to do, I can both do all the things I need to and have free time to do what I want. While time management is a difficult thing to learn, it is invaluable no matter what you are doing. I hope I retain my time management abilities through college and beyond. The abilities to innovate and criticize may seem like entirely different things, but they are actually two sides of the same coin. If change is to occur, one must first criticize- identify that something is wrong and point it out. Then, one must innovate- creatively change it for the better. I cannot say for sure that I have learned these things at St. Bernard. Learning to criticize seems to be the easier part, and I believe I have learned that, but it seems that at St. Bernard the criticism is rarely channeled into innovation. I do not know if this is a failure on the students’ parts or on the administration’s, but I believe that innovation is a skill I probably still need to work on

There are various reasons as to why I’m deserving of the Etna-Dixmont School Scholarship. The most prevalent reason is my family history and connection with the town of Dixmont. My father and my grandparents moved to from Massachusetts to Dixmont, Maine when he was in second grade. My grandfather bought a house on Route 9 in Dixmont, and some other land in addition to that. The Dixmont Corner Church was built in 1835, and had an active one room school house next to it that was built in 1808.…

Well it has been almost 4 months that I have been attending Roanoke Valley Early College. I love it here and I don’t see how anyone couldn’t. So far I have learned a lot about school. By taking time to observe my surroundings and everyone around me, I have learned that everyone in high school is not your friend and that I am learning how to sense a bad vibe before I let anyone get too close to me. RVEC is the only school that has taught me that all teachers are not these people that hate their job because the teachers here including the ones I don’t take yet are always showing us that they really want to be there and help us and teach us.…

The Dream of the Rood The Dream of the Rood is an Old English, allegorical retelling of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ from a different point of view. Many seem to think this poem is only told from the point of view of the cross that Jesus was crucified on, but an additional interpretation is that this story is told seemingly through the point of view of a normal man, but in all actuality it is the retelling of the vision that Jesus had before he was arrested and his acceptance of his duty to be sacrificed for the forgiveness of sinners. There are three sections of The Dream of the Rood.…

It is important that the message be sent loud and clear to all employees within the organization that the change must be attacked with an extreme sense of urgency. It is also important for the top level of the organization to have a realistic plan in implementing change. Many times top level management overestimates how many big changes they can force early on. They also underestimate how hard it is to drive people out of their comfort zones (Kotter, 1996). In order to achieve this management must create a powerful…
