Personal Narrative: Hackett

With one foot in Seoul and the other in Kalamazoo, I have been juggling two homes for seven years. Until I was twelve, home was where I was born and raised—the comfortable Seoul neighborhood in a cozy apartment with Mom and Dad. Since my arrival in Michigan, my aunt and uncle have become substitute parents, and my two little cousins are now adopted siblings.
Four years ago when I first arrived at Hackett, I remember how scared I was and had no idea what I would get in return. However, everything Hackett offered me has helped me to become the person I am today. Hackett was actually more than a high school to me. Through the community, I was able to learn and define my character as well as grow in my Catholic faith.
