My life changed the year of 2013. An unforgettable experience I had was when I left the only school I´d ever been to. All of my friends were at Conway Christian School, I didn't want to leave, but my older brother did. I left when I finished fifth grade. One of my brothers stayed at CCS (Conway Christian School) and the other, with me, went to public school. Going into Carl Stuart I didn't have many friends. Carl Stuart , one big middle school, had over 800 students. Conway Christian, a much smaller school, which had a elementary, middle, and high school, had less than 800 students. Carl Stuart was a huge school compared to Conway Christian . My first day was exceedingly chaotic. Carl Stuart is a big school and you can easily get lost in. It was hard for me to find my classes. I thought I was going to have one friend who could show me around, but she moved right before school started, and it blindsided me. The learning style at Carl Stuart was definitely a lot different than Conway Christian. English and math were like a whole other ball game. At Conway Christian, English was mainly focused on more vocabulary things and Carl Stuart was more writing skills. Math was completely different, everything that the teachers had taught everyone in fifth grade, I was taught a whole other way. My first year at public school went okay, but I still missed my …show more content…
They were holding tryouts for seventh grade volleyball, I had never once even touched a volleyball before. I thought that I should just try out for fun. Tryouts went great and were fun to me. The last day we got a number, a number that would decide my fate for my seventh grade year. It would be put on a list and if you were lucky enough to be on the list, you made it. The next day, a Saturday, I walked up to the school. I looked hastily for my number, number thirty-six. I scrolled my eyes down the paper, my heart racing. Finally, I spotted my number. I made

The semester before my freshman year I applied to an early college high school; I knew that I was going to have more work than if I had went to the traditional high school, but I knew I could do it. At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

The first place that I transferred to was an online program. It was quite fun for the first few months if I’m being completely honest, but then again what teenager doesn’t want to stay at home all day? After a year, I got fed up with the teaching style. It wasn’t keeping me into the course and classes became more like chores, so I made a switch to the high school program at Mott Community College in downtown Flint. For a person going into ninth grade, switching schools and knowing absolutely no one may be extremely terrifying.…
