Overall I had a great experience at Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle School. The school was ran orderly fashion and definitely focused on student…
fascinated with necrophilia while listening to his father’s stories about working at the mortuary, he loved the idea of having sex with a dead female. “Having sex with someone who is dead because you wouldn’t get caught no feelings. She wouldn’t feel it.” (Reichert, 2004, p274) stated by Gary’s father. After Gary graduated high school he proceeded to go into Vietnam.…
Why do you wish to become a member of the Scottie Guides? When I visited St. Margaret's school a year ago my tour guide (Kyndal Carry) really opened my eyes to St. Margaret's school. She showed me what your day would look like, what you do on your free time, what your room could look like, and several other details. All of that opened my eyes to boarding school and how fun it looked and is.…
Spending my time on campus in that way have allowed me to meet the most amazing people, with the most incredible stories. I have seen from single mothers with perfect GPAs, to high school students who balance their prom year with Calculus III classes, and international fathers trying to create a brighter future for their children. All of them, myself included, are grateful to the Lone Star community. Here, we all receive support on a personal level. When the situation got bad in Venezuela, I do not think I would have received as much support anywhere else as I did here.…
Well it has been almost 4 months that I have been attending Roanoke Valley Early College. I love it here and I don’t see how anyone couldn’t. So far I have learned a lot about school. By taking time to observe my surroundings and everyone around me, I have learned that everyone in high school is not your friend and that I am learning how to sense a bad vibe before I let anyone get too close to me. RVEC is the only school that has taught me that all teachers are not these people that hate their job because the teachers here including the ones I don’t take yet are always showing us that they really want to be there and help us and teach us.…
Personal statement The year 2004 marked a time in my family’s history in which we took a substantial step forward by coming to the United States. Before that, we lived through and experienced a lot of unspeakable things. Originating in Somalia, my parents understood that it was a place where nothing could be achieved. Civil war broke out, devastating hundreds upon thousands of lives, including several of my family members. Corruption infected the government, military, and all forms of law enforcement.…
Attending McCallie School has been the best decision of my life. Coming from being a pretty sheltered kid in Charlotte, I got the opportunity to live on my own as a fourteen year-old. I had to learn how to manage my time because I didn't have anyone to tell me when to study. I had to learn how to do things that I was used to my mother doing for me like doing laundry and changing my sheets. The point is I had to grow up fast.…
My most positive high school experience for me has to be when I was inducted into National Honor Society for my senior year. This was something that I has been striving to do since my freshman year after I received my first academic letter. But after our school decided to only allow seniors to be inducted, raised the GPA requirement, and reduced the amount of people that would be allowed to be inducted I wasn’t sure if my goal would still be attainable. But after three years of strenuous classes, constant volunteer service, and keeping my grades up I finally received an acceptance letter and was inducted into NHS where I am able to surround myself with others that have the same academic goals as…
My high school community is unique and incredible in that it is inclusive. It was the best decision of my life to attend Xaverian Brothers High school, despite what failures I encountered. Entering high school my grandmother had just passed away and my family was in a large feud; I was lost and had no confidence. The community my high school established allowed me to find my niche and gain confidence. I discovered in high school that I am a service oriented and extremely driven student.…
I not only got good grades on my essays but also on the spelling and grammar packets we had to do. Spelling has always came pretty easy to me and I was pretty average when it comes to grammar. I always get annoyed on social media when people my age or older can’t…
Getting back to school after a couple years off is so exciting. Dallas is much hotter this summer. That makes the idea going to school even hotter than ever. I love my school now, Collin College, where the students are friendly and the instructors are caring and helpful. Choosing the right school makes four years in college seem easier.…
The good points have been that Mr. Stout gives us time during class to work and he is very reasonable with his due dates and pushes back deadlines if necessary. The out-of-class work was good, but a majority of the work I did on my essays I worked on in-class. The project work was not horrible, was not my favorite but I learned through the experience. Project work, I say, was the hardest to do in this class. Just because it is hard working with certain people and it is exceptionally hard when others do not do what they are suppose to do.…
When I first started Richland Community College, I thought it was going to be a breeze because of it being a community college. From the first week of it though, I realized this is not going to be a walk in the park. I realized I will have to put in extra time to study for tests and writing expansive papers. After being in Professor Trickel’s class for one semester, I have learned to study beforehand and not leave anything till the last minute, his class has taught me that time management is necessary in order to succeed. The class has also granted me new friends, who have helped me whether it be helping me understand the lesson, or sharing their study methods and materials.…
I probably would be dead now. That really isn’t an exaggeration. I have more than one life-threatening ailment. Without the professor job I have now at the North Harris campus, I wouldn’t have medical benefits. Without them, I might not even know I was a walking time bomb.…
The duluth public school system has helped me by setting me up with a network of teachers that go above and beyond to support me inside and outside of school. In the honors courses that I have taken the teachers have provided me with an environment that I learned best in . They provided me with the methods that I needed to excel in the classroom. They challenged me to think outside of the box and not take the easy way.…
