I was a member of the K-5 cheering team from the time I was in kindergarten to the time I was in fourth grade. The peers I had when I attended are still a big part of my life. Even if we’re not the closest of friends, I still feel an unbreakable bond with those kids that I shared tears and laughter with for nine years straight. Graduating the eighth grade was tough for me, I didn’t know how I was supposed to leave behind the place where I had grown up for the majority of my life. That school was comfort to me, it was a safe place where I knew I would be respected. I learned so much from attending Etna-Dixmont School, both morally and logically. When I started my freshman year at Nokomis Regional High, I found that a lot of the things I was being taught were things that I had already learned at Etna-Dixmont School. I feel like I had gotten a jumpstart, especially in maturity. My teachers drilled the importance of respect and responsibility into my brain from the first time I stepped foot into the building. I feel like that has been a huge advantage to me in high school, and I have used that knowledge for the better. Etna-Dixmont didn’t just give me a primary and secondary education, it gave me a group of people who I can count on for support at any time, experiences I will never forget, a strong voice, the ability to differentiate right from wrong, respect for others, responsibility for myself, and the
