I had the opportunity to develop a life-long friendship with my Academy of Finance teacher and mentor. Both individuals helped me develop into a better-rounded individual. In the beginning of senior year in high school I did not have the confidence to speak in front of an audience but with the help of my teacher and mentor I was able to develop my confidence. In the span of a few months I became president of the Academy of Finance where I started to give speeches to classes on fundraisers that I thought could benefit our program. It’s not that I don’t want to meet new people but I find it comforting to be around my two close friends I have known since I was little. I typically won’t reach out to new people but if I find someone who I instantly connect with then I start to invest more time in them. Having the strength of a relator allows me to be selective when it comes to choosing who is in my life. I find myself using this strength recently at college. I have made four close friends who believe in the same morals as I do at Marywood University. I want to spend my life having a small amount of close friends then a lot of acquaintances.
