My Philosophy Of Education As An Adolescents
With this stage an old colloquialism can be used to describe this period as the time when a young adolescent is “smelling themselves”. What is meant by this is that the adolescent has realized or is coming to the realization that they are growing rapidly and that they are closer in age to being an adult that can vote, than they are to a child that can get into a restaurant for free. Physically, at this point is when adequate athletic ability is first acquired or enhanced. Students feel as though they can start to emulate the skills and abilities of professional athletic role models. Socially these students may already have an established friend group but as they make the transition to high school these relationships can become strained or will become nonexistent. Emotionally this stage is when a student may encounter bullying whether by being a victim or inflicting it. Of course bullying can occur at any level but at this stage it is more prevalent. With the world constantly and rapidly changing around these adolescents sometimes they are prevented from acting their age and have to grow up and mature before their time. It’s not a student’s fault if they are one of the older children in a household who’s task it is to watch younger siblings until a parent comes home from work. No matter the grade span a middle level school should seek to serve young adolescents at an advance level. An effective middle level school is one that has teachers that are dedicated to their students and are willing to go above and beyond so that students are challenged while also learning concepts and content. Teachers that are flexible with their schedules in order to help students after hours are some of the most effective and memorable ones. Another essential characteristic of an effective and advance middle level school is one that has personnel who are trained or have specialized in advising students at this level who may have personal or internal problems that can take time to
