Some of my most important life goals are to be a programmer and start my own company and to be leader at my mosque. I have a lot of background experience that will be help me in my first goal. Since freshman year, I began to learn more about computers than just surfing the internet. I started learning to code on websites such as codeacademy.com. At my old school, where I studied for 9th and 10th grade, a computer science course was available. I took the class in 10th grade but our teacher caught a very bad sickness and we had a sub for most of the year. I didn 't learn much in that class but it fueled my interest in computer science further. When I moved to MacArthur in 11th grade, I searched for a computer science course but my counselor told me they couldn 't find a teacher to teach that course so it was not available, so I took the next closest thing which was web tech. However, I found an extracurricular activity called UIL Computer Science in which I studied Java with five other students. We participated in competitions against other schools in North Texas. That year was the first year UIL Computer Science was available at MacArthur so all of us were pretty new to Java, but we placed well for our first time. Since there was no computer science course, we had to find another teacher to be our coach.
