My Life Of Georgia, California, And New Jersey Essay

Though I have spent most of my life in Georgia, the majority of my family members are from New Jersey. My maternal grandparents come from Bayonne, New Jersey, living in the area until my grandmother, Lois McGlynn, retired. My mother and father moved to Miami, where they lived until they divorced. My mother moved to LaGrange, Georgia, which is where my maternal grandparents, aunts, and uncles moved to after the retirement of my grandmother. My mother and I moved in with my grandparents. Across the street was one aunt, and next door was another aunt. We essentially had a little compound where the various cousins could run, play, and grow up together. A few years after moving to Georgia, my mother met a man who would later become my step-father. He already had a daughter from a previous marriage. Later, they had a son, my half-brother who I am very close with.
I am not as close with my father’s side of the family. They all lived in New Jersey with the exception of one of my paternal cousins, who moved to Georgia about ten years ago. I did not get to visit them frequently, as travel to New Jersey was expensive, and couple with the fact that my father moved from place to place for what work he could find, it made getting to know that side of the family tough. In recent years, I have had the opportunity to travel and visit those members of the family more frequently.
