Personal Narrative: USF Preschool For Creative Learning

Adam is our first-born child and really has amazed us since day one. Even as a young baby, he was always very curious. At only six months he would love to sit and read books. He would curiously sit through several books at a time. Then by 10 months old, he was already saying his first words. In fact, he was saying many first words very clearly at that age. He continued to advance beautifully as a little boy and soon started to walk, run, and jump while remaining as cuddly as ever. Fortunately, his hugs and cuddles are still plentiful.

His advanced skills continued to amaze me. At 2.5 years he was potty trained in 2 days. Sure, he still had accidents once in a while soon after that, but, for the most part, he did really well. Given how curious he is and interested he has always been in learning about new things, we did our best to find him a preschool in Tampa that functioned not as a daycare only, but as a real school. We knew he needed educational stimulation that was age-appropriate, not just a place to spend time with other children. When we found the USF Preschool for Creative Learning, we were ecstatic. They only take children who are age two and up and specifically guide their curriculum to contain key content (like mathematics, literacy, science, social studies, and the arts) in the form of

A school that focuses on educating the whole child through a balanced curriculum that is nondenominational and that would allow Adam to grow intellectually, emotionally, and physically while learning to respect the religious customs of all in our world would be our preference for Adam. Further, the advanced educational resources available at Berkeley Preparatory School are impressive. We hope he will gain the fundamentals to use his curiosity and skills to be someone amazing some

Like many children I was placed in child care. The place I attended was a family day care, meaning childcare that includes several children of carious ages and usually occurs in in the home of a woman who is paid to provide it (citation needed). My experience in child care was not bad, I do not remember much of my time at Joeann's; however, I do recall having nap time while Dora the Explorer played on the television, which always frustrated me because I disliked the short Hispanic girl with the backpack and monkey, who repeatedly asked me questions, she should have known the answer. Besides Dora and the time, I had my mouth washed out with soap my time was pleasant at Joeann's, each month she would pick a child to take to McDonald's and shopping.…

I was ten years ago and I can still vividly remember sitting on an old, wooden rocking chair while the words of The Very Hungry Caterpillar trembled off my lips to a room full of second graders. I can recall the eagerness and excitement that filled their little faces as I flipped from page to page. There was an abundance of curiosity and desire to learn in that classroom that made me happy that I decided on skipping recess to read to the younger students. There was a fire that lit in my ten-year-old body that day. That was the day where I finally had an answer to all the “What do you want to be when you grow up?”…

If Steve Harvey had asked me to tell him my story, I would tell him about my determination and leadership. I came from a small private school and throughout my years of sports, I fell in love with volleyball. If I had walked into tryouts without putting in any of the work I had put in, I wouldn't have made it. I worked five days a week for at least three hours whether it be private lessons at nine at night or open gyms early in the morning. While doing this I managed volunteering at a summer camp five days a weeks from seven in the morning to three in the afternoon.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

Because of lack of space he was placed in a class with older children ages two and half to three. These children were more verbal and had the social skills he was lacking. I was a bit apprehensive in the beginning because of the age gap, but after giving it some thought I felt it may be a smart idea to try it out. And immediately after about three months I started to see a difference in the way my son spoke and even socialized with others. When I asked his teacher about his improvement she told me that she thinks the interaction with peers similar to his age is what she believed he needed to thrive and that him being around children older than him, and more advanced has really changed his…

Collaborative storytelling Providing digital storytelling tools for the early childhood and elementary school years has been one of my constantly re-defined aims. The most recent tool I have developed is the Team Story editor, (Turcsányi-Szabó and Pasaréti, 2010) and also teamese.inf. Elte.hu. Children are able to create story actors and backgrounds digitally, as scanned figures or other art crafts (e.g., paper origami). They can easily assemble the story pages using the editor (Fig. 3.9.1 and 3.9.2) and supplement the pictures with a narrative in the form of written or spoken text.…

My father purchased our first home computer in 2001, and ever since then I have had a computer. I started out only being able to use the default games when I was three-years-old to repairing them by the time I was 12 by being educated by my father or adopting skills from the internet. My mother never grew up around computers, but my dad got his degree in Computer Science, so he knew how to program and do some hardware fixes. I didn’t originally want anything to do with computers besides play games until a computer broke and we took it to “Geek Squad” to get fixed and they charged 75$ to find the problem.…

As a child grows within their cultural upbringing, they develop as their own unique individual because of many personal experiences. These experiences include many different factors that help a child develop as early as their infant and toddler years. During the infant and toddler stage, it is important to realize that these years are crucial because of the brain developing. Along with brain development comes the physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development that sums up a child’s development. Many professionals study child development because in this field they work to help describe and understand the changes that rapidly take place as children grow through childhood (Cook, 2013).…
