I love the children; however, it is hard to focus on multiply children while solely dealing with one child's melt down and five others at the same time.
The information presented in “Invitation to the Life Span” by Kathleen Berger makes me feel comfortable with placing a child in child care, expcessialy center day care. Center day cares are licensed and have educated adults caring for children, while separating younger and older children to ensure that everyone’s developmental needs are met (Berger 158). However, the research provided on effects of infant daycare makes me concerned with the use of child care. With research stating, “that some infants with extensive nonmaternal care will become more aggressive later on” (Berger 159).
Personally, I feel there will be a lack of wrong and right with no understanding of consequence due to the overall effect of children growing-up in child-care environments. Most daycare agencies cannot, by law, discipline a child in anyway. For example, it is against DHS code to make children walk laps, write sentences, etc. This has been implemented do to the society image of punishment and that a "spanking" or "whooping" is child abuse.
