The concert started of with the band on my left side and the orchestra on my right side. They both had on a white shirt and black slacks. There was a podium right between the band and the orchestra. The place was filled with lots of people, who were there to enjoy the beautiful sound of these instruments. From where i was sitting, on my right i could see people who came late and sat on the lawn it was a very nice day. The weather was just perfect not too hot or cold, it was just exactly right with a bit of breeze. One of the conductor named Wagner came and stood behind the podium and did the introduction plus what is going to be going on and how long the show is going to last. The concert started with both the band and orchestra playing the Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key to open up the concert, kind of like the an overture which was absolutely amazing. Everyone stood up and sang along with their hand on their chest as they sing. The first piece on my list is the Suite in E Flat by Gustav Holst. This piece started of with the woodwind and the brass family playing, then the percussion family joining in as well. The dynamic of the sound was more of a forte in a measure then a fortissimo in the other but sometimes it went a bit soft (mezzo piano). This piece was incredible to listen to. I like the way the instruments had their own parts more like a solo then they all join together in unison and played. This piece sounded more serious in a way. The composer might have been portraying a serious event or him having to be serious in his life or the fact that people need to take somethings in their life more seriously than lightly. I think the performers communicated exactly what the composer was trying to portray to the audience by the way they played their instruments and their facial expression as they played. Next piece is the Belle of the Ball …show more content…
This piece was performed by the Orchestra. Moreover, it started of soft (piano) with the string family and percussion family as well. The piece was more relaxing, smooth and really good to hear. It does get louder as the piece goes on. This piece was short, however it was a beautiful tune to listen to. It was not fast but it was vivace and adagio. From the way i heard it, i will say that it represents a major key , which puts an individual in a happy and relaxed mood. The piece reminds me of like sometime in the spring with birds chirping and flowers blooming. In this piece, is more likely to be played at a dance ball. The composer did a great job coming up with such piece because of the ease it brings and how soothing it
