Molly Ringwald was born on February 18, 1968, in Roseville, California. Molly Ringwald was born to Adele Edith and Robert Ringwald. Molly Ringwald was the youngest of all of her siblings, including a Brother named Kelly and a sister named Beth. Molly Ringwald had another brother, but he died when Molly Ringwald was younger. Molly Ringwald has some performing experience in her family. Molly Ringwald’s dad was a performer as a blind jazz pianist. Molly Ringwald’s mom was only a cook. Molly Ringwald had dark brown eyes, brunette colored hair, and was given the middle name Kathleen.

Molly Ringwald started acting at a young age. Molly Ringwalds first acting job was at 5 years old, as a dormouse in a stage production of Alice and Wonderland. When Molly Ringwald became a little older, she was a mouseketeer on Disney Channel. In 1978, Molly Ringwald appeared in a stage production of Annie. Soon after that, Ringwald played a character who was dealing with a parent's divorce on a show called The Facts of Life. Ringwald then played a character on a show called Diff’rent Strokes. It was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Ringwald was noticed by a new director named John Hughes. John Hughes wanted Ringwald to play Samantha in 16 Candles. It was Hughes’s first movie. Ringwald got the part and they started working together. It was also Ringwald's first movie with Anthony Michael Hall. In 1985, Ringwald won the awards best actress and best young artist. In the same year, Ringwald was in another John Hughes movie, The Breakfast Club. The Breakfast Club was the second movie that she was in with Anthony Michael Hall. In the beginning of the movie we know Ringwald's character as the princess, but by the end, we know the characters name is really Claire.
