The true capability of the mind and human consciousness is not yet known, the potential ability for cognitive thought and its power over daily lives is astounding. Though over time, a process known as mindfulness has sought to greater expand humans ability to find peace and awareness within the present. Defined as “the practice of maintaining a nonjudgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one 's thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis” mindfulness is the ability to compartmentalize the present and find peace or clarity in the current. Those who can find clarity or focus can greatly flourish in the world. With our current sociological system demanding individuals to empathize and understand complex social …show more content…
Understanding how to interact with the world and the daily duties of human life comes with a process known as socialization. From the first time we encounter humanity to the last, the socialization process allows for humans to find commonality and normality among their interactions with others within societies. The often unforeseen consequence of this process of norms and mores creates inactive mindsets. We humans use routine and past knowledge to shut out our constant stream of data queues that we encounter. Fighting this process constantly would not benefit the humans as finding common grounds is necessary towards living a regular life. Finding a mindful approach to resisting this “mindlessness” allows us to subtly affect our consciousness diffrently than others. This ability to approach situations with new perspectives can often time’s affect everything from our decision making in our live to innovation through otherwise unseen connections. Perhaps because it is very hard to diagnose “mindlessness”, and it’s effects on our daily lives, we can 't materialize the mind’s true ability when used to its full …show more content…
When determining our cognitive capabilities as humans it can at times be hard to judge by the current day but rather the progress we have made as the whole of humanity. Expanding from our basic knowledge we have built a world where active thought is often not a daily requirement. Mindlessness and its effects run rampant through our daily lives. In writing this paper I have discussed how and why we can use mindfulness to benefit our daily lives and those of others. I believe that with an expanded consciousness humanity can achieve heights yet unseen. Time and time again the only restraint on the progress of our species has been a calm and active mind. Though with our ever growing understanding of how it can affect our daily lives we may soon see the effects mindfulness could and will
