ACH helmet maps are a necesity in your every day life as a soldier, from airborne operations to simple road test. Incase of accidents and to protect a soldiers most essential tool his brain. incase of a crash or accidents since soldiers are not invincible they are needed to keep the man completely mission capable, the pads help insure that the helmet itself does not injure the service member. the bolts that screw the straps in the service members helmet can come out and injure said service member. possibly make him not mission capable. the pads are needed for comfort also from and keep said service member from hurting him self, causing damage by accidently hitting him in the temple and making him not mission capable. with out pads in the helmet its just a dome bucket that is neither comfortable or possible to protect and stay in place. its also not just about the pads its about the placement of them your ach combat helmet pads have to be placed one eighth of an inch below the helmet rim to ensure proper protecton of the soldier and incase of an accident. if the pads arent placed in the right location if you are on airborne operation you can lose the helmet because of unproper fitment which can cause you to get in trouble and get in touble for lost of equipment all because of improper …show more content…
pads are quite possibly the most importmant peace to the combat helmet. it insures proper usage, proper protection. your ach is required to have 7 pads there is a center pad, 4 bolt pads and a front and rear pad for your fore head and the back of your head. the rear and the back pads have to be flushed with the actual lip of the helmet and extend one eighth of inch below the lip. the 4 rectangular bolt pads need to be on each strap
