Purpose of Profession Medical Assistants help offices and clinics run smoothly. A Medical Assistant can work individually with a doctor. In a small office they tend to report directly to a physician, health practitioner or office manager. In a larger office they tend to specialized in a particular area and they report to department administrator or other operations management. Medical Assistants have administrative and clinical duties. Administrative duties like scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purpose. Types of Specialty within Profession Some of the Specialties within the profession are .Medical Assistant for dermatologists, Pediatric, OB-GYN.
Medical Assistant for Pediatric they usually obtain vital signs including height and weight, obtaining clinical history, preparing patients for the physicians’ examination and possible procedures, obtaining blood for diagnostics, and preparing and administering medication. But more commonly in a pediatric office or clinic is the administration of vaccinations at regular intervals. Extracting medical history may be significantly more difficult when performed on children, as compared to adults. Patient might be combative. Requires more patients and skills than usual, all clinical procedures, especially invasive ones such as blood extraction, must be performed only after consent with their legal guardian/s is obtained. Medical assistant on pediatric offices are expected to be familiar with first aid and CPR for pediatric children Medical Assistant for Dermatology they work with dermatologists as well as dermatology nurses providing help as needed. Many dermatology assistant also perform clerical help in a dermatologists office.
