1.2 Background of Tencent

Founded in November, 1998, began with IM software and was the first company in China which set foot in the IM(Instant messenger) field, Tencent has grown into one of China's largest and most used Internet service portal. It is Tencent's aim to increase the quality of human life through Internet service. It provides service which Covering various fields like, IM(QQ), SNS(Qzone), Online games(QQgame), SE(Soso search engine), e-commerce and on-line payment services (Paipai and Tenpay). These service all together meet all demand states of Internet user including communication, information, entertainment, e-commerce and others. The development of Tencent has profoundly influenced the ways hundreds of millions of Internet users communicate with one another as well as their lifestyles. It also brings possibilities of a wider range of applications to the China's Internet industry.
The enterprise in China which own multiple business in Internet service are reasonable large. Rarely companies can lead in more than two different business areas, except Tencent.
