Longing for a Winter Wonderland

The cold, freezing, frostbitten wind that nips at your nose and fingertips carrying little snowflakes, makes all your troubles go away. Fingers and toes are numb, but it’s a satisfying feeling. It’s one of the wonderful things about the winter season. Bundled up like a little kid in your cozy pajamas, getting ready for bed brings back delightful memories; memories of when your mother and father would tuck you in and say goodnight, before turning off the lights. All these memories are bittersweet though because it means you have to say goodbye to the warmth, but it also means the rich and creamy hot chocolate drink that makes your mouth water. Along with winter comes Christmas, the best holiday of all. At my house my family gets together laughing and opening gifts. I come from a small but entertaining group of people that I love with all of my heart. The laughter that fills the house brings joy and peace. My sister and I go outside and laugh and play in the snow. Snug inside many layers of clothes is like being taken back to my childhood. The urge to make a snowball is overpowering and I can’t help but to pick one up and start the fight. The snow is frigid and some of it immediately melts at the touch of my hand. My fingers begin to turn a rosy pink from holding the snow so long, and my hands start to become numb. Although I don’t mind that much, I just raise my arm to launch the snowball, and with very precise aim, I throw it. It’s a bulls-eye, for my sister is now wet, from what once was my perfectly formed snowball.

Winter is a time to come together and enjoy the holidays. It’s a mirror of the world, reflecting everything off its icy surface. Showing the merry lights strung from building to building. Winter has many personalities but I enjoy experiencing all of its moods. Even when I have to battle it’s blustering and bullying winds. No matter what, I still love winter even through its dreary days. Because sometimes you just have to live like it's heaven on
