This article goes on to outline six reasons why marijuana should be legal backed up by what The New York Times has written on in their different articles and stories. In fact, this article seems to be inspired off what The New Yorker has talked about. The writer seems to clearly paint an ethos by appealing to the logical side of the debate by using facts and statistics. He is clearly is constructing his ethos from logos. He starts his six reasons by talking about the impact of the prohibition of weed has had on the legal system. He even uses statistics about how many people are getting arrested and why that is bad and the impact it has on our system financially and what impact it has on a person's record. He then goes on to talk about how there is no benefit for having this war on drugs. The writer then talks about how marijuana has some medical benefits and he talks about how alcohol is more dangerous than weed. So the article was written in 2014 about two years ago when some states where starting to legalize recreational marijuana or lean towards that decision. Since then there could have been more studies that could negate what this author has used for evidence. So in a way by this article being a bit older it lowers its value due to many more studies and research into these points coming forth. With any writer or person who is in the media, there is a big chance that there view comes off with a bit of personal bias. If you look into Owen’s other writings he has done you will clearly see that this author is for the legalization. Which brings up the question if some of these reasons he laid out where influenced by his own personal bias. But he does get a lot of value for backing up his own personal view with statistics and quotes from other credible sources. With any person making an argument or point there are limitations and values for what they are saying and putting out. The second text is totally against the idea of blazing it and making it legal. Like with the last text this text gives ten reasons why marijuana should not be legal. A very contrasting piece to the first text. This text is an article from the New Health Advisor website and the name of the article is “ Why Marijuana Should Not Be Legalized:” The whole article
