Author Charles Colson conclude that Gay marriage should not be forced on fellow Americans by judicial or mayoral fiat. The authors attempt to convince the readers that Americans should be able to have a vote if it should be passed or not. I believe that if this opportunity is given to Americans. Then it will settle the argument on both sides, for those who are against it, and those who embrace it. I disagree with the authors argument that same sex marriage has a major affect on those who do not grow up with a father. I think it depends on how the couples raises their children, this issue can happen to a heterosexual marriage also. For example, the heterosexual couple gets married and everything is going great for their first year of being together, until they decide to get a child the next year. So The couple is managing to get by and the father gets to a limit were he can’t handle the responsibility of taking care of another human being, so what does he do he leaves the wife and kid, and the mother being the responsible one takes care of the baby by herself. But that does not mean that the adolescent will grow up to be a murderer. If the mother educates, I believe that if the parent is a well manner person with goals and words of wisdom to give to their child, then the child will grow up to be a good person with the father not being in the picture. What separates the straight people from the gay people is that they follow traditional values of their religion. That is why they believe this manner of marriage is the only way for two people to be together. For them Marriage should be correspond to the Biblical accounts wear a man and a woman marrying is presented as natural thing in society. Straight people can be happy and be compatible with someone if found the right person to be with if that’s the case then why can’t gay people have the same rights? Some people don’t like the idea of gay marriage they feel that is un natural for two people of the same sex couples to get marry. But who are they to say that two people in love can’t get married just because they share same sex. So a person who is not in love has more of the right to get married then a couple who is in love, and all that they wish is to be married to the person who they truly love.
