A. Strengths and Weaknesses After taking the test, Determining Your Preferred Supervisory Style, I am a participative leader. There are many different leadership styles and there is no correct style. I believe being a participative leader is a strength because I believe it is important that all employees have a say in the decision-making process. Some advantages of being a participative leader include improved employee morale, innovative thinking, and improved employee self-worth (Kokemuller, 2017). Employees will also be more accepting of the new strategies because they had a say in the decision-making. This will build better relationships with employees and create a better work environment. My only experiences involve being a captain for my sports teams. However, even with my lack of experience, I believe being agreeable all the time is not a leadership quality. For example, for one of the presentations in class, I was called upon to be a leader for a skit. For the skit, I had to go talk to an employee of mine that missed a deadline. Instead of taking charge and telling the employee what to do, I was agreeing with almost everything he had to say. It almost seemed like he was the boss and I was the employee. Recommendations It is hard to come up with recommendations on how to become a better leader since I lack the experience. Nevertheless, I believe communication is a key component of a stronger leader. A leader needs to be able to communicate with their employees in order to run the organization. Leaders also need to be willing to listen to their employees because leaders do not know everything and should be willing to learn from them. I experienced this from an employee’s perspective. My supervisor told me how to work deliveries when he never worked there. As a result, the new system put in place was not an effective
