However, in order to ensure a programs’ success, leaders should be cognizant of several key factors. Effective, modern leaders must recognize that “diversity” extends beyond race, gender, age and ethnicity. It now includes factors such as lifestyle choices (Luttrell, 2014). Programs that address various family and home issues, such as alternate work schedules, options to work from home and child and elder care options should be part of any modern diversity initiative (Luttrell, 2014).
