James Gregory The Year Of The Mooc Essay

People all around the world are taking Massive Open Online Courses, otherwise knowns as MOOCs. In the article, “The Year of the MOOC”, Laura Pappano states that MOOCs are free online course that anyone in the world can take. In an essay called “Chunky Peanut Butter,” by James Gregory the author explains his qualities and he can complete a MOOC. The best candidate for taking a MOOC because Gregory is flexible with working with people, serious about his work, and dedicated to advance his education. Gregory can work with any type of person. In his essay he states, “I lead through example, but I am flexible.I am able to work with any kind of jelly.”(Gregory 14). Which means that he can with anyone without having a problem. That's good because if there is a problem he would be able to solve it like for example, “No one showed at the meet-up that Stacy Brown, an information technology manager at a Hartford insurance company, scheduled for a 14th-floor conference room on a Thursday after work, despite R.S.V.P.’s from a few classmates in the area.” (Pappano 28). If no one shows up for Gregory's meet up he could just find some other classmates or just try to contact his classmates and find out why they didn't make it. …show more content…
He is focused and stays on track. He says, “The desire to help is ingrained in my personality, and drives my plan up before I attain this dream; I have the persistence of the little glob of peanut butter that sticks to the roof of your mouth.(Gregory 15)". This means that he will work hard and stay focus to complete his goal. That's good because in a section of Pappano's article it states, “The ones I have study groups with people, those are the ones I finish,”Ms.Spillman says (Pappano 28)". Gregory should be able to past because he would be focused on the goal and working hard to complete
