Passion. The sole element I believe is crucial in choosing a career path. Growing up, I always remember being asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Some people are fortunate enough to know what they would like to be from the very beginning. That is because they have the passion that will allow them to persevere and be successful in their chosen career path. I was one of those fortunate ones. Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher. I was that enthusiastic child with a teacher play set at the age of five. I would set up a little play classroom in the corner of my room and pester my parents and grandparents to let me teach them. When my little brother was old enough, I bribed him into my classroom as well. Teaching was my passion from the very beginning, because it allowed me to do what I love: help others and make a difference in their lives.
Since I was in ninth grade, I have completed many hours of community service in the education field. I have both volunteered my time and professionally worked as a tutor. I have tutored a wide range of students in various subjects, such as Algebra 2, Biology, Elementary School Language Arts, and Social Studies. This variety allowed me to experiment with different subjects and age groups, which made is easier for me to decide what subject and which age group I would enjoy teaching the most.
