Teaching provides one the chance to mentor students in areas outside the scope of a classroom whether through coaching a sport or sponsoring a club. Mostly, teachers have the chance each day to make a lasting impression on someone else. Teachers have the opportunity to be strong, positive influences on 100s of students over the course of a career. Not many professions provide that.” (“Why do I want to teach?”…
It would bring me great joy if I were hired as the Associate Athletic Director of Internal Operations at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside! Reading through the duties and responsibilities, I believe that I would excel in this position. Looking to expand my career in college athletics, this position would provide the best opportunity for expansion. While compliance is currently my primary responsibility, the requirements of working at the NCAA Division II level have afforded opportunities to gain invaluable experience in other areas. As part of my duties, I have managed $1.3 - $2.0 million in athletic aid.…
Chris Linde stated “My job as an athletic trainer is to prevent injuries as much as possible. I also support with strengthening and conditioning, guidance in nutrition and sleeping, and I also make sure the playing area is safe”. When he was young, he always adored being around the athletic trainer. Subsequently being pushed to his limits and fighting through the pain, there was always someone to care for his aches, and pains. She gave him opinions on what to do when he was alone to prevent fatigue, and serious injuries that would prevent him from playing to his fullest potential or limit him from achieving his goals.…
Though I am not even half way through my high school career, I feel as if I can still be a help to those who are just beginning. High school is probably the most important part of your life that you are responsible for in our teenage years, so it is important not to mess it up. There are a few concepts that I have figured out by myself that I wished someone would have told me. Those of which include never procrastinate, think about your future, learn how to manage your time, and do not settle for less than your best. My first recommendation is that you don’t procrastinate.…
Hi, my name is Quinton Howard and I am an athletic trainer for the Detroit Lions I earn 35,000-75,000 per year, to get here you need to work hard, go to college and earn the minimum of a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree, it could take you up to 4 years to complete. Athletic trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians; they can work with athletes and show them how to treat, and prevent injuries through maintaining proper form and using exercise equipment in the right way. Another job that athletic trainers have is to take care of the players, for example, we find ways to keep the players like keeping them hydrated, helping players stretch to keep from injuries, keeping them from running out of energy during…
When I arrived at my enormous new high school for cheerleading auditions, I got lost. It was June, and since classes had just ended, crowds of kids filled the hallways, and I got bumped around like I did not exist. Thankfully, a cheerleader saw me and figured that I had come there for tryouts since I wore shorts, cheer shoes and a big bow in my hair. She took me to the gym where at least sixty girls had shown up to compete. The first thing I saw was cheerleaders doing high level tumbling with no fear.…
I started my football career at the age of eight and fell in love with it ever since. I was involved in a flag football program for a couple of years till i wanted to play tackle football. The only problems with me playing tackle football was my parents fear of me getting hurt.…
My sunburn lines between my shorts and socks symbolized the restless, tiring hours spent out on the field. Every Tuesday and Thursday, for two and a half hours, the sun scorched my body while my legs would scrape into the ground. The cluster consisted of the seniors’ looming bodies that would go shoulder to shoulder against my own freshman self as our feet would battle for control. While this exhaustion enthralled and encouraged my game, the sprints, planks, runs, and more caused me to dread going to that grassy field every week. The humidity produced heavy, useless pants from my lungs as my throat would feel as if it was closing in from a claustrophobic nightmare.…
The health career I choose was an athletic trainer. The reason I choose this career is because I play sports and I would love to when i'm older be either playing a sport or teaching people how to play a sport or do something that has to do with a sport and if being an athletic trainer is the right thing for me I would love to be one. The typical responsibilities of a athletic trainer is to, Provide 1st aid and injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation/reconditioning. The athletic trainer will also be responsible for making appropriate physician referral. Students who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum.…
I try my best on my outcomes to have a positive impact on everyone. Aside from the teaching field, I also put time into taking care of dogs by volunteering. In the future I would like for this experiences to help me pursue my career of teaching. I have faced many challenges including having to deal with family problems while taking classes that need all of my attention with no distraction whatsoever however, I have managed to overcome those problems by ignoring them and treating them in a mature way. With my college education on the line I view myself having a role that has influence many…
The turning point of my college football career came early in my third year. At the end of the second practice of the season, in ninety-five-degree heat, our head coach decided to condition the entire team. Sharp, excruciating pain shot down my legs as he summoned us repeatedly to the line to run wind sprints. I collapsed as I turned the corner on the final sprint. Muscle spasms spread throughout my body, and I briefly passed out.…
The lights. The noise. The people. Who doesn’t love a classic high school football game? At one particular game, the first home football game of my junior year, my friends and I were all ecstatic to be first-time upperclassmen super fans at the “hawaiian-extravaganza” event.…
They have put upon me the importance of education in not only today’s society, but for the years to come. Researching this career made me even more excited to do something this special with my life. Even though the pay isn’t excellent and the amounts of stress can sometimes be overwhelming, I could not be happier to have found what my passion is and to do something with my life that it involves. 11 Helping students achieve success and grow in their everyday lives is one of the most, if not the most, wonderful things with which someone like myself could be blessed. The thought of knowing you are doing a good deed by leading the children you teach into a prosperous life full of knowledge is a feeling that’s rewarding and…
Shannon, good post this week, “playing the part” like the way you phased that. In our society, it is filled with people just playing the part trying to be something that they are not afraid to take a hard look in the mirror at themselves and face the reality that you are not meant to be a Knight. So many youths want to be pro athletes or pop star not understanding or even willing to learn their trade, much like Don they just get it from a “book “or “The internet” my Bishop often reminds us if it was that easy everyone will be doing it. I think Don had good intension, he meant well however his ideas were self-serving ideas, no matter the situation he found himself in the famer and the boy for instance, he felt his duty was complete when the…
“Always keep going no matter what. When it feels too difficult to push forward, remind yourself, this too shall pass, and redouble your efforts.” That is what my mom always told me after every setback. She told me that high school would be very different than middle school. She promised me that if I just focused on my grades, I could accomplish anything.…
