Iphone Vs Android Essay

There has been a hot debate for quite some time over which phone, iPhone or Android, is

the best. Some people say that Android is more customizable whilst some people say that iPhone

is easier to use. There are some obvious distinctions between the two that might make or break

one’s decision.

One of the first things that is noticeable between an iPhone and an Android is that they

differ in looks from each other. Apple, the company that made iPhones, have sort of a

“signature” look to them – the designs are very simple and elegant. Android, on the other hand,

can and will vary aesthetically from phone to phone. Apple has always kept the original four-to-

five inch display, until recently with the new iPhone 6 unveiling a whopping

Price is another factor that dictates the difference between the two phones. iPhones are

generally more expensive than some Androids, with the iPhone 6s starting at $649, and the

iPhone 6s Plus starting at $749. The more modern phones have the same price as the iPhones –

the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge plus, starting at $799.99 and the Samsung Galaxy Note5, starting at

$699.99. The difference between the two companies is that since Android offers more of a

selection, the prices are going to be lower. The newer Android phones coming out are going to

be priced similarly to Apple if it is a name brand – Samsung, HTC, LG, Google, Sony, etc. There

are exceptions however that do not follow the price-to-quality ratio. Some of these phones

include the OnePlus One, which has similar specifications as compared to the Samsung Galaxy

S6, but is only $299 for the 64 GB version; Asus Zenfone 2, which is also comparative to the

Galaxy S6, but is only $299 for the 64 GB version, and many other phones that are

iPhone’s processing power and RAM is also behind compared to Android. The iPhone 6s Plus

has 2 GB of RAM and a dual-core Apple A9 processor with clock speeds of 1.84 GHz. The

Samsung Galaxy S6 has 3 GB of RAM and two dual-core processors: Cortex-A53 and A57,

which deems it an octa-core with total clock speeds of 3.6 GHz. So not only is the Samsung

Galaxy S6 faster than the iPhone 6s Plus, it is also ninety dollars cheaper. The thing that wins

iPhones over Android is the software. The software is so fluid and constantly updated, iPhones

do not have a need for high quality hardware. They run just as fast as Android does, if not faster

at times, despite the lower hardware quality. The last thing that is obviously between the two is

the expandable memory. Ever since Apple’s release of the iPhone One, they never bothered to

put in an expandable SD card slot. Almost all Android phones have this, with the exception of

the newer ones.

All in all, iPhones and Android are strictly based on personal preference. If you like a

simpler, ready-to-go, and friendlier user experience, choose iPhone. However if you are one

For that reason, the Nokia Lumia developed by Microsoft has now become an indirect competitor. Especially with an acknowledged growth of market share; Nokia finished its final full quarter as a mobile-phone vendor just barely keeping ahead of Apple (Whitney, 2014.) The Nokia Lumia has become such a viable alternative that even the Microsoft Devices team went as far as to say, “Nokia Music is one of the best reasons to buy a Lumia. In fact, we’ll go further than that and say it’s the best free mobile music service available for Windows Phone 8” (Microsoft Devices Team, 2013). Samsung is also part of this race in the cell phone industry, which makes them equally apart of the downward pressure upon the sales of iPod…

When the iPhone was introduced back in 2007, it became a successful product in a short amount of time. It offered many features that other competitors did not offer and was just a more appealing cell phone to buy. However, as time progressed, many of the iPhone’s competitors began to offer the same features as the iPhone and some even surpassed the amount offered towards customers. Now in 2015, it is difficult for one to say which exactly is the best smartphone due to the variety of options. Even though other companies like Samsung and HTC have compelling phones, I believe the iPhone is the best smartphone as of right now.…

In 2008, the Android operating system was introduced, in response to Apple’s iPhone and its proprietary iOS operating system, which had revolutionized the smartphone industry just a year earlier. Samsung had a long history in the cell phone industry, but only became a leader in the Android market with the introduction of its Galaxy S series in 2010, which stood in direct competition to the iPhone: “The Samsung Galaxy S, announced in March 2010, was Samsung’s first foray into the US smartphone market. While the company did have a few other Android releases before this, the Galaxy S was the first serious attempt by the company to take on the iPhone, and take a piece of the Android pie...” (Banerjee, 2013). Currently, the Galaxy S is in its sixth generation with the Galaxy S6…

But, all these features that these phones have tend to confuse the consumers. Samsung is the master among the Android phones area, while Apple has something which only Apple has, and no one else, Ios. When it comes to making choice among the two, customers would have to give up on one of the two so that they are able to get the benefit of the other. Talking about the camera, both the phones have a 12MP camera. Earlier iPhones had 8MP and Samsung had 18MP. But, things have changed now. Samsung is not using wide screen anymore, they are following Apple in that case now. When you take a picture, you have to crop it anyway in a Samsung, so to reduce that problem, they reduced the MP. For both the phones, front camera is at 5MP. And, also both of them are using the screen only as a flash for taking…

One main point that leads people to buy an Android Phone is the price of a device. Android Phones differ from iPhones in that they are cheaper, yet they still can show a great performance and the same settings. The amount of money that people spend buying an iPhone is enough to buy two good new Android Phones, which definitely crash the apple on this scenario. Also, by having an open operational system, developers can share information to solve issues in programming new apps, reducing the cost of the system. Assuming this, Android OS is more compatible with new apps, because people do not need to wait for big updates of apps from the main developers of the OS once they can get it directly from small developers. However, this open system can lead to security problems once people are installing unofficial apps on their phones. These apps can be used as spy ones, stealing important information like passwords and bank account details. Nevertheless, people have a lot of options of choice. Many different brands can have many different smartphones since Android OS is an open system. Whereas iPhones has just one main model, Android Phones has much more diverse main options. In this way companies can decide how to proceed in the distribution of apps, solving problems like security, or offer distinct options of settings and design,…
