Another problem in Haiti are Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs). According to “The National Academy of Public Administration study showed that NGOs were running 80 percent of the social services in the country, which severely limits the ability of the government and private professionals to develop the skills and capacity they need to run the programs themselves” (Adelman, 93). That shows how incompetent the government is. Even though the government showed interest in changes, years of unstable ruling, corruption and neglecting their people made the officials very untrustworthy. The government didn’t make any changes in their economy after the quake; Haiti is still depending on donations and they letting NGOs to take over governmental responsibilities. Without changes to gain economic autonomy, Haiti will remain in crisis. Government should work now on making Haiti more appealing for foreign investors how could invest in small businesses, which would be a good start for further
