This involves developing and implementing rules and procedures that enable effective management of time, materials, and technology, so that teachers are able to maximize learning for all students. Procedures allow teachers to maximize instruction time by minimizing the time it takes for students to move from one class to another, or grab the appropriate materials. For instance I observed a classroom a few years ago where the teacher would call students by color to gather the materials they needed. In doing so the teacher avoided having all of the students up at one time allowing to students to easily become distracted making it much more difficult to get back on task. Another part of classroom management is deciding what corrective measures to take when a student displays inappropriate behavior, and are consistent when disciplining students. If a student is repeatedly displaying inappropriate behavior it is important for the teacher to be consistent so that the student understands that their actions have consequences. There are many reasons why it is so important, a major reason why is because when children see their parents being involved in their education. It shows the child that their parent values education and believes it to be important to their well being. Which in turn causes the student to value their education as well. When teachers take the time to get to know students and their families, it helps develop a sense of trust amongst teacher, student, family, and community. This helps the student and their families to feel as if you value not only their education, but them as an individual as well.
