According to Stephen Gardiner , "The Industrial Revolution was another of those extraordinary jumps forward in the story of civilization." This refers to how in a whole the Industrialization was a good thing. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because of pollution and child labor, it was actually a positive thing for society. Industrialization's positive effects were child labor laws, new inventions and especially the concept of mass production. One of the most influential and long lasting effects were the development of child labor laws. During the Industrialization many children were forced to work in horrible conditions and suffered long term from the enduring pain of working. As noted in doc._7 Elizabeth Bentley talked about how at the age of 13 she began to develop weak ankles and crooked knees. This deformity was from the horrible suffering of working from 5-9 o'clock for over 15 years. The development of these child labor laws were a long term contribution that helped society in the long run. By now having this law in place it helps to prevent those conditions from ever happening again. We saw inventions such as the Spinning Jenny , a machine used to faster produce material. During this time we also got a basis for scientific theories, like the cell theory. We started to discover more about human interaction through the process of sociology and psychology. These factors all lead to beneficial resources we still use today.
